LOVE FEST SF 8-3-2024

Love Fest SF music and arts festival shares the love with the Tenderloin.

Tenderloin, San Francisco, CA (August 3rd, 2024): The 1st annual Love Fest SF, a community arts and music event in support of small businesses recovery, is taking place in San Francisco’s Tenderloin Neighborhood on Saturday August 3rd. This all day free music and arts festival on Larkin Street between Eddy and O’Farrell from 11am-6pm features local DJs and artist favorites in direct support of small businesses and creates an experience to rediscover the Tenderloin and see the neighborhood in a different light with a bright future. The only thing to break a doom loop is a road block party made from love.

Love Fest SF is created by the Tenderloin Merchants Association led by Rene Colorado, Value Culture, a local non profit organization developed by San Francisco native and event entrepreneur Adam Swig, and AW3 Technology’s William Schulz. This event is also supported by the Civic Joy Foundation and SFMTA.

“When I started inviting people to be a part of Love Fest SF they would say ‘why down there?’ I saw all the great SF cultural activations happening like SOMA’s first Thursdays, Bhangra and Beats in Fidi, the Chinatown Night Market, Fred Again with Skrillex at Civic Center, and the Dirtybird rave on the embarcadero. The Tenderloin needs love too so I called up Rene Colorado.” Swig says.

“Will and I have also been inspired by the burning man community where people go the distance to the desert for radical self expression, arts, music, and to be whatever they want. You can do that everyday here in the tenderloin. We’ve built that into Love Fest SF with some of the most fun local EDM DJs and it supports the city where it counts.”

Love Fest SF features activations by Burning Man camp Octopus's Garden and San Francisco’s Midwayville. EDM music will be a highlight of Love Fest SF featuring DJ’s Borak, Justin Kan,  Sailor Beast, AngNxcole, Chill Bill, Galen, Izik (Cloud 9), DJ Sep, Kenny Cordeiro, Tergel, Bisi, Via and Iris, Ol!v!a, Tosh, Source Zero1 and surprise guests all popular in the SF nightlife culture and festivals like Lightning in a Bottle. “As someone who has been involved in the festival community for many years, most recently LiB (DoLab) I look forward to bringing that energy up to SF. The festival community is a great pairing to awaken Love Fest SF!” comments Alicia Angeles (Sailor Beast).

Artist activations include Matt Milano, Hospitality House, Dragonessa and Dark Events,  Colorful Weirdo, the Comedy Party, Brixton at Large, Scott Levkoff and Midwayville and more.

“With Burning Man at the end of the month why not start it off here and bring that positive energy to a part of the city that really needs love. Come dressed to express and show some love.” mentions William Schulz.

LoveFest SF will take place on Larkin Street in Little Saigon, home to some of the area's most popular restaurants and shops. Festival-goers can support small immigrant businesses like Sweet Glory, a popular cake shop that is women-, immigrant-, and LGBTQ-owned, along with Lers Ros Thai, Pho 2000, Golden Lotus, Los Yucatecos, Lapats Thai, Lee’s Sandwiches, and Rainbow Market and Deli. Fresh cuts will be offered at J&D Hair Studio or get outfitted at Tilted Brim, the Tenderloin's official clothier. All these small businesses are located on the LoveFest festival site. More vendors will also join the fun including Barcar and newly launched Palace Beverages offering their non alcoholic artful blend of adaptogens and citrus crafted drinks.

The Tenderloin Community First Responder Safety Ambassadors (CFRSA) will be on site to greet visitors. Taking SFMTA to and from the festival is recommended. The event is all ages, free to the public, and attendees are encouraged to dress to express themselves .

Rene Colorado, executive director of the Tenderloin Merchants and also formerly homeless remarked “What we love about this festival is all the food and drink vendors are the businesses operating on Larkin street. They all need love right now due to the negative impact from the doom loop narrative. These mom and pop businesses welcome you to the Tenderloin.”

The Tenderloin Merchant and Property Owner’s Association (TMA) gives Tenderloin business owners a new voice. Ours is the first and only Merchant and Property Owners Association representing the entire Tenderloin community. TMA’s membership reflects the diversity of the Tenderloin including its many immigrant owned businesses.
